Studio Gang, headquartered in Chicago, USA, designed a 213-foot-high Solar Carve Tower on the High Line in New York. The crystal-like building sparkles in the sun and has an amazingly quirky figure. On the east side of the building is Tenth Avenue and Lincoln Road, and on the west is the Hudson River, so it can refract light and air from the empty streets to the highlines, illuminating the inner garden of the neighborhood. In the design process, the movement of light and the shadow cast in the surrounding environment are factors to be considered. For this reason, the cube's floor was cut according to the sun's path so that the ground floor was not blocked but filled with light. Studio Gang said that the geometric relationship between the building's shape and the sun's path and the landscape view between the park and the Hudson River are factors that determine how the building's appearance is cut. The diamond-like façade was finally formed, showing dazzling effects and improving the quality of public life. This is a stand-alone landmark building that cannot be achieved.
